Residents in Ad Daein town in Sudan’s East Darfur State have complained of the sharp rise in the price of medicines and fuel after the government decision to lift subsidies on essential goods.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj yesterday, several citizens said they couldn’t buy medicines for their patients due to rising prices of medicines at the market, saying the price of malaria drugs reached 60 Sudanese pounds.
Mustafa Bakhit, a member of civil society organization in Ad Daein town, said that their situation became extremely difficult after the recent decision taken by the national government to lift subsidies on goods.
Bakhit pointed out that East Darfur will soon witness protests and civil disobedience if the government doesn’t find any solution in the area.
