Sudanese authorities have released a church leader detained for more than five months in Khartoum, relatives and local sources said.

Telahoon Nogose, known also as Tilal, was released on Tuesday after nearly five months in jail without charges.

Agents of Sudan’s National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) had raided the home of Telahoon Nogose Kassa, 36, the night of 13 December and ordered him to report their offices, the sources said.

The following day NISS arrested Tilal and jailed him in their detention in Khartoum.

“Finally Tilal is free,” his brother said.

One church leader is still behind bars in Khartoum since December.
