Christmas: 4 babies delivered in Bor hospital

Dr. Bol Chaw, the medical director at Bor State Hospital, said four babies were born at the hospital on Christmas day.

Dr. Bol Chaw, the medical director at Bor State Hospital, said four babies were born at the hospital on Christmas day.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj Friday, Dr. Bol said the deliveries were successful except and that the babies have been discharged.

“On Christmas Day, we recorded four deliveries, including two baby boys. The final case was that of a woman who gave birth through surgery while in her 28th week. The operation was done to save the life of the mother but the result was a dead fetus. The other four deliveries were successful,” he said.

Dr. Bol pointed out that the rest of the mothers with their babies were discharged immediately after delivery.

The medical doctor, however, noted that they undergo many challenges as they provide services at the maternity department.

“Two days ago, a mother died during delivery. Many deaths here are due to postpartum haemorrhage because we do not have blood banks. Cases that need surgeries are delayed because we have to rely on blood donors who are often reluctant. So, there is a need for a campaign to emphasize the need for a blood donation,” Dr. Bol said.
