Cholera case confirmed in Greater Pibor, malaria high

One out of three suspected cholera cases in the Greater Pibor Administrative Area has been confirmed by laboratory testing, according to James Shasa, a top health official in the area.

The samples were sent to Juba Teaching Hospital where one case was tested positive, the official said.

Shasa also complained of shortage of medical supplies in the area citing the high incidence of malaria affecting the area. “Malaria is also higher in Greater Pibor Administrative Area,” he said

UNICEF disclosed in a recent situation report that a woman tested positive for cholera in Teneth Village near Pibor town in the Greater Pibor Administrative Area, saying samples from the test were sent to Juba for final confirmation.
