The Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan Hua Ning and a Chinese medical team from the Juba Teaching Hospital have on Sunday paid a visit to Confident Children out of Conflict (CCC) an orphanage home in the capital Juba.

The visit came amidst the Chinese New Year celebrations which begin on January 31st and the China Winter Olympics competitions that will commence in Beijing on February 4th.

The Embassy in Juba says it is celebrating the events by providing the orphanage with medical assistance, scholastic materials, and other children’s gifts.

Speaking to journalists during the visit, Ambassador Hua Ning said, “It is very important to bring the Olympic games to South Sudan and also to the children at the orphanage here. The Olympic Games is to invite and encourage more people especially the children and the young generation to join the sports and to participate in the dialogue with everybody. Even though the children here cannot visit China now, I hope with today’s event, they have a basic idea about the Winter Olympic games that China is going to host.”

He adds, “In China, we are celebrating double happiness, and one is we are going to answer the Chinese New year of Tiger. And secondly, a few days later the Beijing Winter Olympic games will take place in Beijing’s northern part of China. So we are celebrating the double happiness.”

Hellen Boro, the Director for CCC hailed the Chinese government for its continuous support to the orphanage.

“I have to appreciate you ambassador, your medical team has been doing very excellent work for our children. Because they are always willing to come and check on our children when they are sick. Doctor Andy always gives us advice on the phone on what we should do when one of the children is sick. And when they get some medicines from China, they give us the medicines. So, I want to thank the government of China and its people for their support to the people of South Sudan,” she said.
