China telecom company makes donation to war-affected South Sudanese

China-based communication company ZTE Corporation donated on Wednesday 2,000 schoolbags for war-affected people in the state of Jonglei. The company has previously also donated computers to the Ministry of Information and school materials to the First Lady’s organization (CONCERN).

China-based communication company ZTE Corporation donated on Wednesday 2,000 schoolbags for war-affected people in the state of Jonglei. The company has previously also donated computers to the Ministry of Information and school materials to the First Lady’s organization (CONCERN).

The company works in the field of telecommunications in cooperation with the South Sudanese government. Speaking at a press conference at the Ministry of Information, Hon. Michael Makuei Lueth welcomed and appreciated the donation from ZTE Managing Director in South Sudan Hu Xing.

“We really appreciate your contribution and gift to the children of the war-affected area,” the minister said, referring to Jonglei.

“Ultimately, education is one of the most important instruments that is encouraged worldwide and there is no doubt that these bags will be of a great help to them and will continue to remind the children about the long standing relationship and friendship between the people of the Republic of China and the people of South Sudan and the tangible contribution being made by ZTE in the Republic of South Sudan,” stated Makuei.

For his part, Hu Xing, the managing director of the ZTE Company in South Sudan said they were donating this schoolbags to schoolchildren to help them in their school needs.

“And all these are the witness of our efforts and our friendship but besides the business we also bear in the social responsibility. Because we are state-owned company, companies they need profit that is true but also we do something more to create friendship,” said Hu Xing.

“We hope this schoolbags can encourage the ones who are still studying in their schools and who will still keep their hope,” Hu said.
