The People’s Republic of China has donated assorted medical supplies to Juba Teaching Hospital to boost medical services at the country’s main health facility.
The donation worth 160,000 US dollars was received by the Director-General of Juba Teaching Hospital.
In her remarks during the event, South Sudan’s Minister of Health Dr Yolanda Awel Juach said the medical supplies will be used to improve the medical conditions of the hospital.
“These items will ease some pressure that Juba Teaching Hospital is experiencing with our population in Juba,” Yolanda said.
“I applaud the multiple relationships that the government of South Sudan have with the government of China. This cooperation will go a long way as we go with other projects,” she added.
For his part, the Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan, Hua Ning said: “This donation consists of medical equipment and some other devices. This is a symbol of our traditional friendship and cooperation.”
Hua Ning also pledged his government’s support to continue proving medical services to the people of South Sudan.
A few months ago, the Chinese medical team took medical supplies to Rumbek State Hospital in an effort to boost medical services in the area.
So far, China has sent nine batches of medical teams to Juba over the years.
The teams have been donating medical supplies to Juba Teaching Hospital as well as some state hospitals in South Sudan.
