Child killed in South Kordofan bombing

One child was killed and crops were destroyed when an Antonov aircraft bombed areas in Sudan's South Kordofan state between 13 and 16 of September, a monitoring group said.

The South Kordofan-Blue Nile Coordination Unit said a one-year-old boy was killed and an eight-year-old girl injured in Alzraq village of Heiben county on 15 September.

Farms were set ablaze when bombs were dropped on Umserdiba in Umdorein county and Troji in Thobo A on 13 September and 16 September, respectively, the group said. 30-35 lost their sorghum and cow peas.

The group said bombs were also dropped that day on Tungule in Dalami county but reported no casualties.

Meanwhile, in Blue Nile state on 19 September, an Antonov dropped two bombs in Tanfona, Malkan, and Wadaka in Kurmuk county without causing any casualties, according to the monitors.

The Sudan Armed Forces have been accused of bombing civilian areas in South Kordofan and Blue Nile as they battle an insurgency by SPLA-North rebels.
