A 10-year old child was killed in a shootout in Pibor town of South Sudan’s Boma State on Tuesday, a state official said.
Residents said the shootout erupted when a group of armed men stormed a house after reports that one of the attackers’ wife was having an affair with another man.
Olul Akulbeck, the State Minister of Agriculture confirmed the incident saying the shooting started on Tuesday around 2.30 pm, causing panic and fear among the residents of Pibor town. “We heard the shooting while we were in the market place,” he said.
Akulbeck pointed out that the government contained the situation and conducted an emergency meeting with local chiefs.
