The United Nations children’s agency (UNICEF) has opened a child care project in Wad el-Mahi area of Sudan’s Blue Nile state.
The project includes a number of kindergartens and therapeutic feeding centers.
Provincial commissioner Mohammed Omar Khabir said during the launch of the project that local authorities need to raise awareness about maternal care and children’s education.
He promised that authorities in the area will cooperate and exert necessary effort to ensure the success of the project which also aims at controlling the high rate of maternal mortality.
