Police authorities in Bor town in South Sudan’s Jonglei State said they had arrested eight local chiefs for failing to arrest key suspects in the murders of two police officers in Bor town.
On October 10, two police officers were killed when armed youth ambushed a vehicle carrying policemen between Koch and Bor town.
Jonglei’s police commissioner CholAtem told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that the community leaders were arrested last week for failing to arrest the perpetrators.
“We arrested them to help us apprehend the youth who ambushed the police,” he said.
