A lawmaker in Southern Liech state has resigned, saying the government has failed to offer the much needed services to its people.
“The nation is run by tribal cliques who have taken the country hostage and deprived its citizens of services they deserve,” Isaac Chiok Jany, a chief whip of Southern Liech state parliament, said in his resignation letter.
Jany accused the government of targeting innocent civilians across the country. The legislator announced his intention to join the opposition group led by former First Vice President Riek Machar.
For its part, the state government confirmed that Isaac Chiok has resigned from his position. “But we have received any letter official from Isaac. I think he has decided to join the opposition,” Peter Makuoth, state information minister, told Radio Tamazuj today.
Isaac was representing Ganyliel constituency in the state parliament.
