At least three people were killed and two others wounded in an attack by unknown gunmen on a commercial vehicle along the Aniet-Ngong road in Abyei area on Tuesday, according to a tribal leader.
Bulabek Deng Kuol, paramount chief of the Ngok Dinka tribe, told Radio Tamazuj that an armed group wearing military uniforms attacked a commercial vehicle carrying passengers on the road yesterday.
They ordered the passengers to get off, and started shooting. “This is not the first ambush, I think about four similar incidents occurred this month,” said Bulabek.
The traditional leader reported that the incident resulted in the killing of at least three people and wounding of two others.
Bulabek accused militias supported by the Khartoum government of involvement in the attack, saying the Sudanese government rejects any peace effort between Misseriya herders and Ngok Dinka people in the disputed territory of Abyei.
