Anyuak tribal leader Ujulu Oman was gunned down in Pochalla County in eastern Jonglei State last Friday, according to two local politicians.
The incident happened as he was traveling between Boma and Nyuwum payam, reported Radio Miraya, citing a member of parliament representing Pochala County in the Jonglei State Assembly.
MP Akello Cham Ajou called on the administration of greater Pibor to investigate the killing of the chief: “We as representatives of Pochala County need the administration of greater Pibor to investigate into the matter to find out who killed the chief. There should be a control in the security in Pochala, because it is happening again, and it has been happening.”
He also noted that two children were abducted in Pochalla the same day the chief was killed.
Likewise, member of the national parliament David Okwar said that the chief was ambushed and his belongings looted by the gunmen.
As quoted by Gurtong, he said, “One of our most prominent chiefs by name Ojulu Oman was on his way to his village called Nyum, and in the middle of the way he was ambushed by unknown people. In that ambush, the chief was killed and the properties he was carrying were looted.”
