CES police commissioner dies in Juba, police confirm

Central Equatoria State police commissioner, also the assistant inspector general of police for traffic has died of cancer in the capital Juba, on Thursday.

Central Equatoria State police commissioner, also the assistant inspector general of police for traffic has died of cancer in the capital Juba, on Thursday. 

According to the police spokesperson, Gen. Daniel Justin, the late Lt. Gen Juol Buotbuot passed on after a brief admission at the Freedom Hospital.

“The incident happened around 10 a.m. He was transferred to India then from there he decided to come because it was something related to cancer and it was almost late. It took him like two weeks, he was just in Freedom Hospital until the day before yesterday he was taken home. The late Lt. Gen has served for almost two years. He died in service. He left for treatment while he was still the assistant IGP and police commissioner,” Justin said.

He described the late Lt. Gen. Juol as a great man who served his country diligently. "He was a gentleman and very respectful, he worked in Bentiu and other places and he was very straightforward.”

For his part, a family member, Chuol Hoth confirmed that the Late Lt. Gen Juol died of cancer.

“It happened today at 10 am, he was admitted at Freedom Hospital and after two days he told the doctor to discharge him so we brought him home on the 19th. He went to India last year in October, they brought him back. The sickness was cancer," he said. 

Hoth added that the deceased was born in 1952 and is survived by five wives and children.
