The SPLM-North controlled areas of western South Kordofan have recently witnessed good harvests and falling cereal prices.
Four counties in this area have all experienced good harvest yields, according to local civil society and humanitarian sources.
This has contributed to a slight reduction in cereal prices in October at the larger local markets in the area.
However, parts of the eastern Nuba Mountains were affected by flooding, including more than 1,000 feddans of cultivated land in Dalami and Heiban counties.
This flooding comes after unexpectedly heavy rainfall throughout most of October.
