A South Sudanese civil society organization is urging IGAD to urgently call on all parties in the revitalized agreement, meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia today and tomorrow to immediately stop political propaganda and hate speech related to the implementation of the agreement.

Edmund Yakani, Executive Director of the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization CEPO said politicians are engaging in an exchange of political statements which he says is detrimental to the spirit of the implementation of the peace deal.

He said parties should inform their press personnel and military actors to remain objective and not get involved in the political rhetoric.

Yakani called on the parties to reach a consensus on the way forward regarding the May 12 formation of a unity government to reduce tensions and fears of possible violence.
