A leading South Sudanese civil society group has appreciated the country’s opposition leader Riek Machar for responding positively to meet civil society organizations and political parties based in Juba and opposition alliance today.
“The key demand is effective compromises for peace and non-violent resolution of political differences. We are expecting that the meeting between Dr. Riek Machar and President Salva Kiir will offer great breakthroughs for making peace prevail in South Sudan,” partly reads a statement by the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO).
“It is time to give peace chance because violence never gains. We are aware that the outstanding issues on revitalizing ARCSS chapter 1 and 2 articles are not easy to resolve
but we urge you both as leaders to compromise,” adds the statement.
