Central Equatoria reviewing healthcare policy for its citizens

The state government of Central Equatoria has started consultations on a proposed health policy. One of the proposals is to grant citizens access to medical care through health insurance.

The State Ministry of Gender and Social development is reviewing the policy with county officials to see how best it can be implemented. Hastin Yokwe State Minister of Cabinet and parliamentary affairs says the insurance would be open to all citizens.

In an interview with the UN Radio Miraya he said, “This insurance will not only be limited to civil servants or people working for government but will equally be open to any citizen who wants to insure himself or herself so that they can benefit from health insurance.”

“I assure you that this will be the best means to guarantee that we have access to health facilities in and out of the country. The law is there that gives the government the responsibility to improve health facilities in the country so that our citizens can be well taken care of in terms of treatment.”
