Central Equatoria: Owners of illegal structures get quit notice

The Central Equatoria State government has advised the owners of illegal structures on public land to vacate before December.

The decision was reached on Thursday during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Governor Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the State Minister for Peace and the caretaker Minister for Information and Communication, Gerald Francis, said the illegal structures would be demolished by December.

He said the State Minister for Education would issue a quit notice to all those who have built on school lands and other public spaces.

“All buildings on school lands will be demolished and the demolition will start in December 2024,” said Francis.

“We want to see all our school lands free so that we can create an enabling environment for our pupils to study well,” he added

The national Cabinet on May 3, 2024 approved the demolition of the illegal buildings on public school premises.

The decision was reached after National Minister of General Education and Instruction Awut Deng Acuil presented a memo demanding the surrender of the grabbed public school lands.
