Central Equatoria new cabinet ministers sworn into office

The cabinet ministers newly appointed by the Central Equatoria Caretaker Governor Juma Ali Malou were sworn into office today in Juba at the state government secretariat, in spite of the recent Establishment Order dissolving Central Equatoria State.

Today's swearing-in comes in spite of an approaching deadline for when Salva Kiir's "Establishment Order" will take effect abolishing Central Equatoria as a state and replacing it with three new states of Jubek, Yei River and Terekeka.

Speaking on Tuesday after the oath, Governor Malou urged each of his ministers to submit work plans to his office. He said that having a policy guideline of the ministry will enable the effective delivery of services to the people in the state.

The governor also urged the new ministers not to panic about the order made by the president for the creation of 28 states. If implemented, the order would mean the end of the Central Equatoria cabinet. “Let him do his and we do our work. I am assuring you that am going to do my job.”

Last month the new governor sacked the entire cabinet of his predecessor, Clement Wani Konga. All but three of Malou's nominated ministers were sworn in. On was vetted out and one declined to accept the post saying he had received a death threat. Radio Tamazuj will bring you more information about this soon.
