Central Equatoria Cabinet passes SSP 19.1 billion budget

The Central Equatoria State Council of Ministers on Tuesday approved a budget of SSP 19.1 billion for the 2023/24 financial year.

Addressing the press after an extraordinary cabinet meeting chaired by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony, Information Minister Andruga Mabe Saverio said the proposed budget has increased by over SSP 3.1 billion compared to the previous year`s budget.

“The state ministry of finance, planning, and investment has proposed a state budget with a ceiling for fiscal year 2023/24 to the tune of SSP 19.1 billion with an increase of SSP 3.1 billion as compared to the fiscal Year 2022/23 budget, he said. “After lengthy deliberations, the ceiling was passed with amendments but pending the actual projection of the revenue authority to be tabled to the council by the state finance minister for final approval.”

According to Minister Mabe, the governor tasked the state revenue authority to double its efforts in widening the tax base so that the state government can render services to the people.

“The ceiling of SSP 19 billion is remarkable and it was acclaimed by all the members and the governor concluded the meeting by saying let us work hard to expand our tax base and to make sure that this year we bring a working budget that will improve our state government, he added.
