Cattle raiders make away with 300 cows in Jonglei

At least 300 cows were stolen from a cattle camp in Twic South County of South Sudan’s Jonglei State on Sunday, a local official said.

Twic South County commissioner Daniel Deng told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that the incident occurred on Sunday evening when a group of armed men raided Gerwar cattle camp.

“While local herders were grazing their animals at Gerwar, a cattle camp between Jalle and Maar towns, armed men carried a fresh raid and went away with over 300 cows,” he said.

He pointed out that no one was hurt during the incident as there was no direct confrontation between local youth and the raiders.

Commissioner Deng noted that armed youth pursued the raiders but could not recover the stolen cows as the bandits moved towards the neighboring Boma State.
