A cattle raider was killed in Twic Centre County in South Sudan’s Jonglei State in a foiled cattle raid on Thursday, a local official said.
Twic Centre County Commissioner Louis Garang Apiu told Radio Tamazuj that the cattle raider was killed as local youth sought to recover cows stolen from Akoi cattle camp in Wangulei area.
“The raider from Boma State was shot dead in a fierce fight with herdsmen in the area. One of the local youth was also wounded in the fight,” said Commissioner Louis.
He pointed out that the wounded person was taken to Panyagoor Hospital for treatment. The local official revealed that the herdsmen recovered the animals after a fierce fight with the raiders.
Authorities in Boma State could not immediately be reached for comment.
