The police in Rumbek Central County of Lakes State confirmed that armed youth went to Panyijar County of neighboring Unity State and raided an unknown number of cattle.

Rumbek police chief inspector of operations, Mathiang Bol Ater, told Radio Tamazuj that they have confirmed the raid last week when the youth allegedly from Amongpiny went and raided cattle from Panyijar County of Unity state.

He said they are yet to get the exact figures of stolen cattle and any casualties.

"The incident occurred four days ago after they went there illegally and raided cattle from neighboring Panyijar County," Mathiang said.

Mathiang said the matter is soon going to be reported to the governor of Lakes State, Makur Kulang Liei, and an investigation committee will be formed to trace the raided cattle and return them to their rightful owners.

"We are one government and one people, we never want cattle raids happening between Lake and Unity State," Mathiang said.

Mathiang appealed to cattle owners from neighboring Unity State to remain calm and allow the government to form the committee that will look for the raided cattle.
