Ngok Dinka and Misseriya Arabs have clashed at Loki village in the northeast of the Abyei Area on Saturday, allegedly resulting in the killing of eight cattle.

Rashid Addoud, a leader from the Misseriya tribe told Radio Tamazuj on Sunday that the incident took place when gunmen believed to be from the Ngok Dinka attacked Loki village on Saturday evening.

He said as a result of the clashes eight cattle were killed and Loki village was totally destroyed.

Addoud also noted that UNISFA forces paid a visit to where the incident took place, but were unable to trace the perpetrators who ran toward the Kiir River.

The tribal leader questioned the effectiveness of the UN peacekeepers in the area: “I am sceptical about the capability of the UNISFA forces to curb unfolding insecurity in Abyei and hold perpetrators accountable.”

Radio Tamazuj was unable to immediately confirm the report from the side of the Ngok Dinka.
