Cattle diseases rampant in South Sudanese Manyo County

The head of the Pastoralist’s Union in Manyo County, Upper Nile State, has warned against a deteriorating health condition among the cattle.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, El Faid Adwok said that the cattle in the county are suffering from diseases due seasonal immigration of some cattle herders to the area amid the absence of veterinarians.

Manyo County traditionally accommodates several Sudanese nomadic tribes who, since South Sudan’s secession in 2011, have to cross an international border to graze their cattle during the dry season.

Adwok called on the organisation operating in their area to provide vaccines and medicines.

He appealed to organisations in Upper Nile State to intervene and provide veterinarian services before the situation deteriorates more.
