More than 80 youths of Catholic churches of the Bahr el Ghazal region attended peace conference in Aweil last week under the theme “youths are tools and backbone of peace.”
The conference focused on youths’ efforts toward peace and development. The Catholic youths vowed to disseminate peace messages to their communities.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, youth spokesman Atiro Dimo said they deliberated on methods of keeping peaceful coexistence between the communities of South Sudan.
He said youths are tools of peace, they should not be used as tools for war. He called on all South Sudanese people to welcome the signed peace agreement between the government and the rebel group headed by former vice president Riek Machar.
