A new hospital with a capacity of 150 beds was opened by the Catholic Church of South Sudan in Wau town on Monday.
The director of the Saint Mary’s Help hospital for children, Grace Cheering, said the hospital has two floors and 15 rooms that provides health services for children less than 12 years, pregnant women, and nursing mothers.
She added that the hospital will provide urgent care for both women and men, and the church plans to open a department for general surgery.
Chok Aleu Mel, the chief of the area, praised the efforts of the church for alleviating the suffering of the people by bringing services closer to them. Mel said that the area has suffered from lack of health facilities, and the new hospital will help pregnant women during their delivery.
