The number of people killed and wounded in a shooting incident on Tuesday in Yei has been revised upward to six killed and 14 wounded.

Initial reports had suggested that the number of dead as a result of the fighting within the ranks of the SPLA-Juba garrison in Yei River County was only four, with seven wounded.

Today the County Commissioner Bidali Cosmas told Radio Tamazuj that the dead toll was 6 and 14 were wounded, including one woman who was caught in the crossfire.

He added also that the fight started after a commander with orders to be transferred allegedly refused.

Easter Radio reported Wednesday morning that Mayor Santo Paul Lasuba was urging residents and business owners to resume their daily routines, reopen shops and return to schools.

The commissioner has expressed condolences to the bereaved families and friends of those who died in the clash.
