Car accident kills six in Akoka, Upper Nile

At least six passengers were killed and over 40 others were hurt in a traffic accident in Akoka town in South Sudan’s Upper Nile state.

At least six passengers were killed and over 40 others were hurt in a traffic accident in Akoka town in South Sudan’s Upper Nile state.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj yesterday, the Acting Baliet County Commissioner Deng Dhieu said the vehicle overturned while coming back from a farm at Baduer area in Akoka town.

Deng did not give further details about the causes of the incident. He noted at least five women and one man died on the spot, while about 42 others were injured, saying eight people were in critical condition and they will be referred to Juba for treatment.

The other wounded will be treated in Faluj town, he said.
