Campaign to fight genital mutilation in Sudan’s Blue Nile state

According to reports by the organizations, female genital mutilation is mostly practiced in Bau, Wad al-Mahi, and Tadamoum localities.

Ne’mat Adam Khalil, the head of the Supreme Council for Maternal and Child Welfare, called for plans to raise public awareness to abandon female circumcision.

She noted that female circumcision is mostly practiced in Blue Nile state due lack of awareness.

Female circumcision is a common practice in Sudan for reasons often linked to social and religious conventions.
