Calm returns to Tonj North after serious clashes

Tonj North Commissioner Tito Sijin Ayii Kuot says that the situation returned to calm after recent conflict between the two clans Akok and Marial Lou.

Tonj North Commissioner Tito Sijin Ayii Kuot says that the situation returned to calm after recent conflict between the two clans Akok and Marial Lou.

Sijin noted that 37 people lost their lives and 40 others were wounded from both sides, and now authorities have addressed the situation and fighting had stopped. The official attributed the reason for the fighting to the death of one person on Christmas which led to the outbreak of hostilities.

He added that the Warrap State authorities sent military reinforcements to the county in order to help to calm the situation as well as sent four Warrap State ministers to the grassroots.

He further revealed that he held a meeting with representatives from the two clans.
