Calm returns in Yirol East County after deadly sectional clashes

The police in Lakes State confirmed that relative calm has returned to the area of Aliet cattle camp following the deadly sectional fighting which left 9 people and 6 wounded in December 2024 Yirol East County.

The state police spokesperson, Major Elijah Mabor Makuac, told Radio Tamazuj Monday that security forces intervened and stopped the clashes.

“Calm returned to Yirol East after security forces intervened and took control of the situation and the police are still investigating the case and all the suspects shall be brought to book,” he said.

Maj. Mabor said the fight that occurred last Monday morning between Pan Awuol and Panthier sections of Naam over the ownership of Aliet cattle camp left 9 dead and 6 others injured from both sides. He added that they have involved local authorities to help in tracing the suspects.

The injured people are still nursing wounds in Yirol Hospital, but health officials could not immediately give information about their condition.
