Calm returned to East Equatoria after Juba-Nimule road attacks

The Eastern Equatoria government spokesperson said the situation has returned normal after rebels attacked a convoy and a bus along Juba Nimule road last week.

The incident occurred on Thursday last week when unknown gunmen opened fire at a bus and Lorries heading to Uganda at Ame Junction killings at least seven people.

Mark Okia, Eastern Equatoria Minister of information confirmed to Radio Tamazuj on Monday the general situations especially where the incident happened returned calm at moment

Three people were reported to have been killed in a bus when attacker shot at a bus while four drivers also said have been killed in an attack on some lorries.

The minister also revealed that the attackers were rebels loyal to Martin Kenyi, an SPLA-IO leader in Eastern Equatoria, citing the SPLA.

Mark said more troops have been deployed to restore the situation.

Meanwhile, the Magwi County youth leader Taban Oliver said gunshots were recently reported at 12 kilometers to Opari Small hill

According to Oliver, Opari residents said the shooting lasted 20 minutes.
