Within days of a deadly attack on a Bari village near to Juba, an Equatorian youth organization has released a set of resolutions aimed at ending tensions between communities in the Northern Bari Payam area. They call for relocating cattle herders and disarmament.

At least 10 people were killed in attacks and clashes from Sunday to Tuesday, which Bari community leaders leaders blamed on cattle herders from neighboring Terekeka County.

“One, moving the cattle camps from the area in question to their respective places with immediate effect. Two, the perpetrators be identified and brought before the law as soon as possible,” he said.

“We also call for the disarmament of all the civilians and for the two communities to form committees comprising of elders women and youth to dialogue for peaceful coexistence… immediate deployment of police to the area to provide security to all the citizens.”

Daniel urged the people of Central Equatoria not to politicize the communities but rather to mobilize for peaceful coexistence.
