The national council of ministers on Friday passed the National Revenue Authority (NRA) human resource policy aimed at addressing staffing challenges faced by the institution.
Addressing reporters after the cabinet meeting in Juba, Dr. Jacob Maiju Korok, the deputy minister of Information and Communication, said the policy is very important and will help the NRA in carrying out its mandate.
“This policy is very critical and will help with issues of recruitment and also facilitate the day-to-day operations of the NRA because it is the backbone of our economy,” Maiju said. “All these laws will reshape the NRA so that it can work efficiently and effectively to generate revenue from all over the country.”
Deputy Minister Maiju revealed that the policy was passed along with three policy documents including the scheme of services, NRA staff regulations, and staff code of conduct.
“This policy is very critical and central for the effective and efficient operation of the NRA it regulates the recruitment process, promotion, performance, and integrity which fit into the operationalization of the NRA’s strategic plan which was developed two years ago,” he said.
The minister said that revenue collection by NRA has improved compared to two years ago because the institution adopted the use of technology including the electronic system of payment.
