The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Augustino Jadalla Wani, on Tuesday, called for unity among the youths to spur development and urged them to denounce conflict.

Addressing a press conference at the State Secretariat in Juba, Jadalla said the youth should embrace sports to unite and not be used by politicians in their fights.

“The state government has plans of reviving cooperative societies and also facilitating private sector participation in social, economic, and political development. I therefore urge youth and women, as they constitute the majority of our country, to play a great role in entrepreneurship to improve the livelihoods of both the rural and urban population,” he counseled. “I also urge the youth to change their mindset not to be used like firewood by politicians to fight themselves and destroy their villages. Instead, the youth should unite to focus on positive activities like education, sports, and arts and prepare to choose their leaders with clarity of mind during the upcoming General Elections in December 2026.”

Governor Jadallah added: “I do not doubt that we will receive the guidance and blessings of the Almighty God to strive further with hope and confidence in achieving our pathways for peacebuilding, economic recovery, security stabilization, and organized return of our refugees and IDPs.”

He said there is no time to waste because there is an opportunity to deliver peace, love, unity, harmony, commitment, and determination to move the state forward into prosperity.

Jadallah also revealed that his administration has overcome several challenges.

“I am grateful that we have managed to overcome critical obstacles that derail progress in peace implementation and livelihood expectations. As a government, we might have not met everyone’s expectations, but this should not wither hopes and confidence in striving forward,” he stated. “Instead we need more passion from each one to bind us together and strive even harder and not to waste our momentum to dwell in issues that tear us apart.”

“We need to consolidate all our efforts to denounce and bring to an end bloodshed, fight against hunger, climate change threats, strengthen our healthcare services and education systems, waste management processes, road rehabilitation, water delivery, and spontaneous refugee returns,” the governor concluded.
