C. Equatoria governor appoints new boss at state broadcaster

Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony on Tuesday appointed Oliver Modi Philips as the acting managing director of the Equator Broadcasting Corporation (EBC).

Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony on Tuesday appointed Oliver Modi Philips as the acting managing director of the Equator Broadcasting Corporation (EBC). 

Modi replaces Carlo Arigo Wani who has been at the helm of EBC.

Modi is the former chairperson of the Union of Journalists of South Sudan (UJOSS) and told Radio Tamazuj that he was happy to be appointed and had the requisite skills set.

“I feel happy that this appointment has come at the right time when the media in South Sudan needs people like me,” Modi beamed. “Equator Broadcasting Corporation needs my experiences, knowledge, and my skills.”

He said one of his priorities is to carry out an assessment of both the radio and TV departments.

“In the planning I will start with the radio, to find out the needs and challenges in the radio department, then I will also do the same to the TV department,” Modi said. “After I know all the challenges, then I and the board members, including the staff will now find the way forward.”

Governor Adil also issued other gubernatorial decrees yesterday relieving, establishing, and appointing office bearers as follows;

(A) – Gubernatorial Decree No.01/2022 for the relieve of Karlo Arigo Wani from his position as the Managing Director of Equator Broadcasting Corporation (EBC).

(B)- Gubernatorial Decree No.02/2022 for the relieve of two Executive Directors of the Independent Commission as herein;

01- Gama Deodine Lubakare-Executive Director, State Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation Commission.

02-Fred Lako-Executive Director, State Insurance Regulatory Authority.

(C)- Gubernatorial Decree No.03/022 for the relieve of Francis Luwala Yuda Wani from his position as a member of State Investment Authority/Corporation.

(D)- Gubernatorial Decree No.04/2022 for the Establishment and Appointment of the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson for the State Land Commission as herein;

01- Fred Lako-Chairperson, State Land Commission.

02- Jiki Alex Bon-Deputy Chairperson, State Land Commission.

(E)- Gubernatorial Decree No.05/2022 for the Appointment of Gama Deodine Lubakare as an Executive Director, State Insurance Regulatory Authority.

(F)- Gubernatorial Decree No.06/2022 for the Appointment of Francis Luwala Yuda Wani as an Executive Director, State Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation Commission

(G)-Gubernatorial Decree No.07/022 for the Appointment of Victor Keri Wani as a Technical Advisor for Equator Broadcasting Corporation (EBC)

(H)-Gubernatorial Decree No.08/2022 for the Appointment of Oliver Modi Philps as an Acting Managing Director of Equator Broadcasting Corporation

(I)-Gubernatorial Decree No.09/022 for the Reconstitution and Appointment of the Board of Directors of the Equator Broadcasting Corporation(EBC) as hereunder;
