The Archbishop of the Central Equatoria Internal Province of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan, Dr. Paul Pitia Yugusuk is calling on humanitarian organizations working in the country to support internally displaced persons in Magwi County of Eastern Equatoria State.

In recent weeks, Magwi County has experienced an influx of internally displaced people due to deadly violence between pastoralists from Jonglei state and cattle raiders in the area.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj after visiting the displaced communities last Friday, Archbishop Yugusuk said the number of internally displaced persons has increased and they are in dire need of humanitarian aid.

He added that although some organizations have sent support to the area, it has not been sufficient for the growing numbers.

Archbishop Yugusuk called on the government to continue to provide security for the citizens and restore stability, especially with the advent of the agricultural season.

For his part, the ECS archbishop of Eastern Equatoria Internal Province, Ogweno Charles, expressed his gratitude to Archbishop Yugusuk who has been supporting the displaced together with the communities in the diaspora.
