Meat-sellers in Warrap State on Thursday said they increased the price of meat in the capital Kwajok after negotiating with the Town Council.
Warrap authorities have sought to impose price controls on various goods and foodstuffs, including meat.
Head of the Butchers Union in Kwajok Agany Manot Mayual said they agreed with the town council after boycotting their trade for several days in protest of the price controls.
He told Radio Tamazuj they went six days without butchering any cattle, since 23 October.
The prices of meat kilo was 18 SSP per kilo but on Wednesday the union and town council agreed it could be sold at price of 20 SSP each after the week-long protest by the butchers.
“We don’t have any problem with them now, we made an agreement yesterday,” said Mayual, noting they already resumed butchering 10 cattle with meat to be sold at 20 SSP per kilo.
