Shock and fear gripped residents of the Jonglei State capital, Bor when unknown assailants stabbed to death two siblings aged 3 and 5 on Monday evening, police said.

The state police commissioner, Major General Joseph Mayen Akoon told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that the two children were attacked in their father’s home in the Block 1 neighbourhood of Bor.

“The two children; a boy, 3, died on the spot, while his 5-year-old sister died later at Bor Hospital. They were alone at home when they were attacked. The incident occurred at about 6:00 pm,” said Mayen.

He added, “No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, but investigations are ongoing. For now, we suspect their mother”.

Meanwhile, Medical Director of the Bor Hospital, Dr. Bol Chaw said the two patients succumbed to brain injuries.
