British pledge millions to help South Sudanese war victims

The United Kingdom has pledged an additional £30 million to fund aid organizations helping war-affected South Sudanese.

The United Kingdom has pledged an additional £30 million to fund aid organizations helping war-affected South Sudanese.

The money will be used by aid agencies including UNICEF, the World Food Programme and UNHCR, according to a statement by the British Embassy in Juba on Tuesday.

“The funding will deliver food, shelter, basic toilet facilities, safe water, immunisation and essential supplies such as mosquito nets, kitchen sets and fuel,” reads the statement.

The British Embassy noted that the new funding brings the UK’s total support to South Sudanese since the start of the current crisis to £125 million.
