South Sudan’s national football team, Bright Stars on Monday returned home from Bujumbura, after their 3-0 defeat in the first group game with the Shallows of Burundi in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers played on Saturday.
All three goals came in the first half of the match at Prince Louis Rwagasore stadium in the Burundian capital Bujumbura.
South Sudanese players struggled to score in the second half, but was unable to impact on the scoreline.The Bright Stars were missing several key players including Aluk Akech, Dominic Aboy, David Dada and Atak Lual.
The Bright Stars declined to give any statement upon their arrival today.
Last week, the national football team struggled to travel to Burundi for its first group game qualifier due to funding gap.
