Bright Star shines in 2-0 win for South Sudan

South Sudan’s national football team has secured the nation’s second ever win in international football with a victory over Djibouti in the 2015 CECAFA Cup today.

South Sudan’s national football team has secured the nation’s second ever win in international football with a victory over Djibouti in the 2015 CECAFA Cup today.

Bright Star’s Bruno Martinez and Dominic Abuyo struck in the 35th and 73rd minute respectively to secure the win. The match was held at Bahir Dar Stadium in Ethiopia.

The CECAFA Cup is an international football competition consisting of the national teams of the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations(CECAFA).

South Sudan is part of Group C with Djibouti, Malawi and Sudan. Sudan and South Sudan will face each other on 25 November, Wednesday.

In their last four matches, Brights Star have tied once, won twice and lost once. The club most recently lost a tough match against Mauritania, but tied against Mauritania in the previous match at home soon after beating Equatorial Guinea in an historic away game.
