Breaking: New cabinet named in South Sudan

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has named the folowing members to his cabinet in a decree issued tonight:

Minister of Cabinet Affairs – Martin Elia Lomoro (former minister of animal resources and fisheries)

Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs – Kuol Manyang Juuk (governor of Jonglei State)

Minister of Justice – Telar Riing Deng (presidential legal advisor)

Minister of National Security – Lt. General Obuto Mamur Mete (former SPLA deputy chief of general staff for political and moral orientation)

Minister of Interior and Wildlife – Aleu Ayen Aleu (chairman of the security committee at the national assembly)

Minister of Electricity, Dams, Irrigation and Water Resource -- Abdullah Deng Nhial (former Sudan presidential candidate, PCP)

Minister of Transport, Roads and Bridges – Simon Majok Mayak (former deputy minister of roads and bridges)

Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, Tourism,  Animal Resources and Fisheries – Beda Machar Deng (former deputy minister of agriculture and forestry)

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports – Ngor Kolang Ngor

Minister of Labour, Public Service and Human Resources Development – Kwong Danhier Gatluak (former acting minister of labour)

Minister of Finance, Commerce and Economic Planning – Agrey Tisa Sabuni (presidential economic advisor)

Minister of Information, Broadcasting, Telecommunications – Michael Makwei Lueth (former minister of parliamentary affairs)

Minister of Health – Riek Gai Kok (former head of the National Congress Party in South Sudan)

Minister of Education, Science and Technology – John Gai Yoh (ambassador to the Republic of Turkey)

Minister of Lands, Housing and Physical Planning – Jemma Nunu Kumba (retained in the same position)

Minister of Petroleum, Mining, Industry and Environment – Stephen Dhieu Dau (retained in the same position)

Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare - Awut Deng Acuil (former minister of labour and public service)

 

Kiir, acting under Article 117(1) of the constitution, also issued another decree appointing 10 deputy ministers, among them:

 Deputy Minister of Justice - Paulino Wanawilla (reained in the same position)

Deputy Minister of Finance Mary Jervas Yak (retained in the same position) 

Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, Tourism and Animal Resources Nadia Arop (retained in the same position)


Minister of Foreign Affairs, Barnaba Marial Benjamin, had already been announced over the weekend.
