A boy was shot dead by a South Sudanese army soldier in Wonduruba Payam of Central Equatorial State just a day after a fact-finding committee departed from the area, according to a local official.
Local officials and church leaders have accused SPLA troops of committing crimes against civilians in Wonduruba, Katigiri and other villages in the western part of Central Equatoria State.
Lujan Thomas Wonduruba, Acting Payam Director, said Monday that the boy identified as Lotio was shot at around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Separately, an eyewitness said the fact-finding committee found on Saturday that soldiers in Katigiri had tied up a person after robbing him of 700 pounds.
“When the team arrived they found one person was arrested, tied, beaten and his money taken by the army in Katigiri. He was lucky because the committee arrived. The matter was reported to the team and he was set free and his money given back,” said the source.
