Boruboru sport launches in Maridi

Maridi Christian Youth Association (MCYA) with support from the South Sudan Boruboru association on Sunday officially launched Boruboru sport in Maridi with the objective of improving sport opportunities for girls.

During the launch, two girls teams Young Angel and Maridi Super Girls competed. Young Angel team managed to beat Maridi Super Girls 111.5 points to 77.5 points.

Young Angel went away with the trophy and medals while Maridi Super Girls were given medals.

Hellen Khamis from Maridi Super Girls was selected the best thrower while Kezia Luka from Maridi Super Girls and Yondo Degbada from Young Angel were selected as the best targets.

The launching took place at Maridi Freedom Square and brought together key government officials and fans to witness the sport for the first time in Maridi. The guest of honor was the Minister of Education, Gender, Child and Social Welfare Jane Pia Michael who welcomed boruboru sport in Maridi and advised girls not to only focus on boruboru but rather go to school.
