Cross-border trade has resumed between Sudan’s South Darfur and West Kordofan states and South Sudan’s border states, a local official said.

Wol Amok, Secretary at Northern Bahr al Ghazal Commerce Chamber, told Radio Tamazuj that goods have been flowing smoothly to the area from Sudan these days. He added the prices of commodities have also started to reduce at the market.

Roads have opened over the last two days, so vehicles are coming from Sudan via Gok-Machar, Wanyjok and Aweil as well as other roads,” he explained.

The common borders between Sudan and South Sudan were closed as police in Sudanese border states introduce security measures during the recent elections.
