A peace conference is scheduled for later this month between border communities of East and South Darfur states, a local official said.
The conference will include representatives from el-Fardous and Assalaya provinces in East Darfur and el-Santa from South Darfur, Hamdan Adam el-Bushra of el-Fardous told Radio Tamazuj.
“We want to resolve all the outstanding issues between the warring tribes and set new policies which will govern their peaceful co-existence,” el-Bushra said.
The provincial leader said the conference aims to resolve outstanding disputes between neighbouring tribes and set new foundations for coexistence. He said tribal elders from Ajaweed and government authorities both states will also attend.
The Ahly-Rizeigat and Habbaniya in el-Santa and el-Fardous clashed in July, leaving dozens dead.
